Their goal? Believe it or not, it was to find, remove and treat the invasive non-native Russian olive trees along the Green River.
The former Moffat County teacher and coach on trial for felony Child Sexual Exploitation was acquitted on all charges on Monday, a verdict that upset many in the courtroom. Reports in the Craig Daily Press provided coverage throughout the trial, including the following information: The fact that Justin Folley sent sexually explicit text messages over a period of time to the victim in this case, who was 14 years old at the time, was not in question.
In a year of downturn, Uintah County was able to add 236 nonfarm jobs in the second quarter of 2018. According to the Utah Department of Workforce Services, despite the down trend of oil and gas jobs, a significant number of jobs were added in leisure/hospitality and trade/transport/utilities services.

Uintah County Attorney Mark Thomas resigned from public office this week. The Uintah County Attorney’s Office confirmed to NewsTalk KVEL on Thursday that Thomas submitted his letter of resignation to the County on Monday, effective immediately. The Uintah County Attorney’s Office also explained that state law provides continuity in situations like this.
The trial is wrapping up for the Moffat County High School teacher and coach who was charged in 2017 with 10 felony counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child over a sexting relationship with a student that allegedly included sexual images and videos. 36-year-old Justin Folley was teaching high school in Craig and coaching the boys varsity baseball team when he was placed on leave in 2017 from both teaching and coaching.

A Uintah High School student is in custody after making a threat that he had a firearm on campus. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on Monday morning when the student announced to a classroom of fellow students that he was leaving the room and that he had a gun in his backpack.
It was another successful year for Shop With A Cop in Roosevelt over the weekend. Roosevelt City Police Department shared that there were about 75 children who participated this year.

The Vernal Elks Lodge 2375 is hosting the National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest on Saturday December 8th at the Uintah Recreation Center. This event will go from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There will be three age brackets for both boys and girls.
The Roosevelt Junior High School hosted a Career Fair for its students on Wednesday, December 5th. Over six hundred and fifty students were signed up to attend. Students attended sessions based on an interest profile to determine what kind of job would fit their profile, be it social, artistic, conventional, enterprising, investigative, or realistic.
