Altamont High School will be hosting its eighth annual Colors Dance on Thursday, May 23rd. Junior high and high school students from Altamont, Union, Uintah, Terra Academy, Duchesne, and Tabiona are invited to attend.

Roosevelt Branch Library Throwing Star Wars Party
Anyone who has been to a party put on by the Roosevelt Branch Library knows to expect an epic time. Excitement is especially high for Thursday’s Star Wars Party to be held at the Strata Networks building in Roosevelt. There will be refreshments as well as a variety of crafts, activities, and prizes.

Critical Injuries Result From Highway 40 Accidents Tuesday Evening
Seat belts and air bags likely saved lives Tuesday evening in multi-car accidents on Highway 40 between Vernal and Roosevelt. According to Utah Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 7:00 pm when a sedan traveling westbound lost control and traveled into the eastbound lane where it was struck by an eastbound sedan. The driver of the westbound vehicle was critically injured and was transported to Ashley Regional Medical Center.
Uintah County Resolution Approved to Adjust Budget
A public hearing was held during the Uintah County Commission meeting on Monday regarding a resolution to increase the budget. Clerk Auditor Mike Wilkins presented Resolution #5-20-19R explaining that these are adjustments due in part to grant funds received since the first of the year.
Local Agencies Participate in ‘Border to Border’ Seat Belt Enforcement Launch
Local law enforcement agencies participated in a major seat belt enforcement launch on Monday as Utah joined with six neighboring states for the “Border to Border” Operation as part of the Click It or Ticket campaign. Officers from Vernal City Police Department, Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, and local Utah Highway Patrol met officers from Wyoming agencies at the Utah-Wyoming border as part of this region’s launch of the initiative.
Summer Lunch Programs in the Uintah Basin
We are days away from school letting out for summer and every kid is counting down. The local school districts are still planning, however, on being of service to the children over the summer. In Duchesne County School District, East Elementary, Centennial Elementary and Duchesne Elementary will serve lunch from 11:30am to 12:30pm and Myton Elementary will run 11:45am to 12:30pm.
Furever Buddy’s Dog Rescue Take Part of NKUT Super Adoption Event
What do you do with over 50 dogs that need to be adopted? The Furever Buddy’s Dog Rescue in Roosevelt had this dilemma but luckily had a wonderful solution. The NKUT Super Adoption event is a cooperative effort between shelters and rescue groups from across northern Utah held at the Utah State Fairpark.
Maeser Students Complete Service Project and ‘Fill The Bucket For Fisher’
For the second year in a row, Maeser Elementary students have participated in a fantastic and thoughtful service project while raising money to help a fellow student. First-grader Fisher Kidd is a great young man who loves to be active but is in need of a new kind of walker as he has cerebral palsy and recently had to have surgery on his legs.
Handling Current Fines at Uintah County Library
The Uintah County Library has received approval to do away with late fines, meaning that there will no longer be overdue fees. Ahead of the big transition, residents are asked to stop by the library and clear up accounts. The library has three ways in which you can clear all fines. First, you can always pay all your fines.
Flaming Gorge Fish Derby Results
The Flaming Gorge Fish Derby took place over the weekend and the winners are in. Winner of the Lake Trout was Jerry Nelson at 43 inches. The Rainbow Trout winner was Ralph Maccione with the weight of 3.62 pounds and length of 21 inches. The Smallmouth Bass winner was Dusty Lym with the weight 4.48 pounds and the length of 19.25 inches. The Kokanee Salmon winner was Eric Jones weight of 3.42 pounds and the length of 21.875 inches. The winner of the Brown Trout category was Blain Rushton with the weight of 4.54 pounds and the length 23.75 inches. Kraig Jackson won the Catfish with the weight of 13.78 pounds and the length of 38.5 inches. The youth winner was Colby Easton who caught a bass at 3.50 pound and length of 18 inches. Team 299 took first in pup lake trout by catching 70 fishes with a combined weight of 150.12 pounds. The largest fish of the derby was caught by Rachel Ke at the weight of 6.3 pounds and 24.5 inches in length. The derby gave away over $95,000 in cash and prizes.
