KNEU 1250TriCounty Health Department continues to urge community members to get the flu shot and are providing Daggett County with their own flu shoot-out event. Every year the flu contributes to the death of 3,300 to 49,000 individuals, depending on the severity of the season.
Most folks around the Basin have received their election ballots in the mail and if you weren’t yet registered to vote, it’s not too late. The deadline to register to vote is November 1st and can be done physically at the county clerk’s office or by visiting www.vote.utah.gov.
It’s already time to be thinking about 2017 big game hunting permits. The Division of Wildlife Resources says starting October 26th, hunters can begin applying for next year’s most prized Utah big game permits.
A Duchesne County man is charged in 8th District Court with two counts of 1st Degree Forcible Sodomy. The charging document states that the crime committed by 53-year-old Relonzo Mark Duane occurred on or about July 10th, 2015, and that the act was without consent with a person 14 years of age or older.

The Duchesne County Commission is weighing in on the Yellowstone Feeder Canal repair project proposed by the Moon Lake Water Users Association. In a letter signed on Monday and addressing the Bureau of Reclamation office in Provo, the Commissioners state their support of “lining segments of the deteriorated concrete canal (and an earthen embankment section) with a geomembrane liner, covered with at least three inches of shotcrete or concrete.”

Vernal Police Department is seeking the public’s help after a burglary and theft from the Vernal LDS Temple property. According to police, the grounds maintenance sheds were broken into sometime between Saturday, October 15th and Monday, October 17th.
On November 22nd, 2006, a Detective for the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office lost his life while on a Search and Rescue mission. 34-year-old Detective Kevin Orr was coordinating the search for a missing woman from a helicopter when the aircraft struck a power cable near the town of Jensen.
A project that could save residents money while increasing public safety is moving forward. According to Uintah County Commissioner Bill Stringer, the Maesar fire substation project can proceed now that funding has been arranged.
