Ashley National Forest announced this week that burning is planned for areas of the forest in the coming months, specifically burning piles in the Alma Taylor area. “The material is residual debris on landing sites from logging activities completed last summer,” shares the announcement. “The logging operations are part of a broader effort to improve Forest health through reduction of fuels and tree stand thinning. There are approximately 60 acres with piles that will take two to four days for completion.” The burning times will depend on access, snow amounts, and how quickly the smoke disperses.
