It's the last week to submit project ideas within the Ashley National Forest for the Northern Utah Resource Advisory Committee. “The Northern Utah RAC encourages individuals, non-profit organizations, local governments, and others to propose projects that enhance, improve, and restore areas within the National Forest,” shares the announcement.

Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office is seeing a trend with lowering water levels in Flaming Gorge and are asking the public to be aware. “Recently announced increases in the amount of water released from Flaming Gorge Reservoir means that water levels are expected to drop between four to six feet from current levels over the next three months,” shares the Sheriff’s Office.

Uintah School District is asking for feedback from the community concerning emergency relief funds. “Uintah School District is receiving $5,323,816 dollars through the American Rescue Plan Act Elementary & Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER),” shares the District.

The Division of Wildlife Resources are continuing to remind the public of issues brought on by the drought. “Drought impacts fish by reducing the amount of water available in lakes, reservoirs and streams,” shares the DWR. “Smaller amounts of water heat up more quickly and reach higher temperatures, which is problematic for fish because warm water holds less oxygen than colder water.

The Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo held July 8th through the 10th drew a huge crowd that came from all over the country. The rodeo committee made a presentation at the Vernal Chamber luncheon on Tuesday sharing some interesting stats from this year’s event.

Though contrary to what was expected, people with asthma who got COVID-19 did not prove to be at increased risk of severe illness or complications as compared to other people.

There are over 40 inspection stations located at various waterbodies and along highways throughout Utah including in the Uintah Basin. During the 2020 Pioneer Day weekend, 19,094 quagga mussels inspections were performed statewide, and 453 boats were decontaminated.
