Arkansas Bluegill Being Stocked at Pelican Lake

It has been a long journey for the restoration of Pelican Lake. After putting rotenote into the lake to reset the fishery, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has slowly been introducing new life to its waters. That long journey also includes the distance that bluegills have travelled from Arkansas to stock some of the reservoirs throughout Utah, including Pelican Lake. At least 80,000 3-inch bluegills are being stocked at Pelican as it is being restored as a bluegill fishery. Be sure to visit the lake sometime to see if you can catch a glimpse of the newly stocked bluegill. Luckily, it is not only Pelican Lake that is being restocked. Reader Creek had also been treated with rotenone to help restore native Colorado River cutthroat trout. This multi-year effort is reaching its peak as 2,000 1.5-inch trout were released on Wednesday, September 25th.
