Annual STEAM Expo For Local Middle Schoolers Happening This Fall

An exciting event for local middle schoolers is coming up in Roosevelt. Area 5th through 8th graders visit the Roosevelt USU campus to have their curiosity sparked at the annual Uintah Basin STEAM Expo. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math and the Expo offers an abundance of hands-on activities, experiments, and creative projects. Roosevelt City Councilman Don Busenbark is a member of the USU Mathematics and Statistics faculty who participates in the STEAM Expo each year. “To me, what makes this event special is that we are able to connect students to careers in STEAM Fields and teach them something in that field,” shares Busenbark. “We have such great community partners and USU faculty that are willing to share with the students. Best of all, we do this for free. In the past, for students to attend a STEM event, they had to take a bus to Salt Lake and pay to enter an expo like ours. I believe we have hit upon a need for our students in the Uintah Basin and because of the generosity of the community partners and USU faculty, we are able to put this on for free.” The 2026 STEAM Expo will be held October 1st and 2nd at the Roosevelt USU Campus.
