Accident on Emma Park Road Provides Important Winter Travel Reminder

A car accident on a secluded road could easily have turned deadly on Friday. A 61-year-old Spanish Fork woman had just crossed out of Duchesne County and into Utah County while driving on Emma Park Road when she was unable to negotiate a curve on the snow covered road. “She slid off the road and struck a Jersey barrier, then careened across the road and 20 feet down a steep embankment,” shares the Utah County Sheriff’s Office. Thankfully, a passing motorist saw the tracks in the snow a short time later and she was found, pinned inside her car, with an outside temperature of 4 degrees. The woman received medical treatment and is expected to recover but the Sheriff’s Office warns this could have turned out much differently as she was 20 miles from the nearest city and was driving too fast. “Drive carefully all the time,” shares the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, “but especially when driving on remote, snow covered roads in sub-freezing temperatures!”
