A group of young spellers from the Uintah Basin Christian Academy represented well at the ACSI District Spelling Bee in Lakewood, Colorado in January. Twelve students from the Christian Academy competed in a pool of ten schools. All the students did an excellent job but two of the spellers stood out for their accomplishments. This being his very first spelling bee competition, 1st grader Cash Curtice took 3rd place out of all the 1st grade students who competed. Cuyler Pitchford stood out in competition earning a 2nd place finish among the 5th grade competitors. He advanced to the final round that included the top four finishers for 5th through 8th grade and took a third place finish. Cuyler was the only 5th grade student to advance and will be traveling to Arizona for regional competition. Congratulations to both Cash and Cuyler for representing the Basin so well!
