The Utah Department of Transportation has announced that beginning July 13, drivers should plan for longer wait times through the Highway 191 Indian Canyon construction. These will be roughly 30-minute delays, as crews begin work in new areas throughout the canyon. “Through July, drivers may encounter two traffic-control zones as crews work on the north side and the south side of the summit. In mid-July, crews will begin widening the roadway to create consistent 6-foot shoulders throughout the canyon. Depending on the terrain, crews are excavating rock slopes or building up the roadway to create a uniform shoulder width. This will help improve visibility around curves and provide more space for emergency pull-offs.” Crews will start at the north side of the Summit at milepost 267 and slowly move north to milepost 269. Starting in late July, crews will begin updating and replacing multiple sections of guardrail throughout the canyon south of the summit.
