Local Scout Troop Among Groups Filling Food Pantry Shelves

From the Elks Lodge to individual families, efforts have increased across the Basin to gather donations in order to fill bellies that may be affected by a lapse in SNAP benefits. Following the lead of Sarah Fuell whose sons are active scouters, Vernal Boy Scout Troop 228 put on an impromptu food drive on Saturday outside Smith’s in Vernal. “The community really came through,” shares Troop leader Bill Phillips. “We had people donating money, and people donating carts full of food…We had such a good time collecting food to donate to the food pantry.  The people in Vernal are so kind and giving.” For information on donating to the pantry, call 435-789-1014.
