It would have been a cold winter in Avalon if it weren’t for an approval by the Uintah County Commission on Monday. Commissioners approved a budget transfer of library funds to support a crucial repair to the rural internet center in Avalon.

High Speed Chase Begins in Carbon County and Ends in Duchesne County
A high speed chase ended in Duchesne County on Monday afternoon. According to Sgt. Phillip Holt with the East Carbon Police Department, an officer pulled 64-year-old Marvin Brown over on Highway 124 because it was known Brown had a suspended driver’s license and warrant out for his arrest.

By all reports, the 2016 general deer hunt is a success so far. Theft on the mountain is one sure way, however, to have the experience ruined. Uintah County Sheriff Vance Norton is urging all hunters and families on the mountain to be cautious and always secure property.
UBOC Christmas Concert Tickets Now On Sale
Every year the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus ring in the Christmas season with an epic concert event the community looks forward to. This year’s concert will not disappoint and will once again feature dancers as well as the Children’s Choir.
Zoning Amendment Granted
A zoning amendment was approved during Monday’s Uintah County Commission meeting. Triple J Services requested a rezone at 3689 East Highway 40 from an A-1 Agricultural zone to an I-1 Industrial zone.
Teens Seek Donations for ‘Operation Thank a Hero’ Program
Teens actively involved at the Uintah County Library are asking for the community’s help as part of ‘Operation Thank a Hero’. Every month, the Uintah County Library hosts a teen lock-in activity and November’s event will focus on making care packages to send to soldiers.
Billsie Pleads Guilty to Lesser Charge
The mother of the girl raped by 4 men last spring changed her plea to guilty to a lesser child abuse charge last week in 8th District Court. 32-year-old Natasha Alissa Billsie pleaded guilty to Class A Misdemeanor Child Abuse and was given credit for 87 days served in the Uintah County Jail.
