Presidential candidate Evan McMullin is making a stop at Vernal City Hall tonight. The announcement made on Thursdayclaims that a new poll places McMullin at a statistical tie between the two major party candidates among Utah voters.

Don’t be surprised if over the next few days you see little ghosts and goblins stalking your neighborhood or local stores. With Halloween coming up, local law enforcement is making sure to remind the community to put safety first.

Some public officials are concerned by a recent discovery that power marketing agencies in some states, including those in the west, are not doing enough to protect transmission lines and substations from physical attacks. 

Vernal City is considering an amendment to the municipal code that will allow for a family farming business. Utah 40 Farms  has a growing operation that includes pumpkins that have been in hot demand this fall.

Reports from this year’s general rifle buck deer hunt are overwhelmingly positive. According to DWR Assistant Wildlife Manager Randall Thacker, this has been an excellent year for the hunt. “I’ve been with the agency for 21 years,” says Thacker, “and I’ve never seen anything like this. 

Candidates for Uintah School Board presented at the Vernal Area Chamber luncheon on Tuesday. For District 5, Kurt Case and incumbent Greg Gilroy introduced themselves and answered questions. 

Saturday’s ‘Drug Take Back’ events were a success locally. Law enforcement agencies in Vernal and Roosevelt pair up with the DEA twice a year to host Drug Take Back events for citizens to safely rid their homes of unwanted, expired and unused prescription drugs. 

Funding for the continuance of the BTA Vernal Route was approved during Wednesday night’s Vernal City Council meeting. The issue of funding this specific route has been the topic of joint agency meetings since July. 

The County is urging public participation and will hold their first meeting on November 9th from 6 to 8pm at Eagle View Elementary in Ft. Duchesne. A second meeting will be held on November 10th from 6 to 8 at the Uintah Conference Center in Vernal.

Offering an annual report on events and activities, the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce reports an annual benefit of chamber events and committees to the community in the amount of $441,000 dollars.
