A high speed chase ended in Duchesne County
on Monday
afternoon. According to Sgt. Phillip Holt with the East Carbon Police Department, an officer pulled 64-year-old Marvin Brown over on Highway 124 because it was known Brown had a suspended driver’s license and warrant out for his arrest. Brown was ordered out of the vehicle and he refused and sped off. East Carbon PD began the pursuit to Highway 6 at which point Highway Patrol took over. “He went up Nine Mile Canyon and made it over to Duchesne County and the chase continued from there,” shared Sgt. Holt. Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office reports that they were notified of the chase at around
3:40pm
and they intercepted Brown at the top of Gates Canyon but their attempt to stop the vehicle with spikes was unsuccessful and the chase continued at speeds exceeding a hundred miles per hour. Highway Patrol and Roosevelt City officers attempted to deploy tire spikes again in an area south of Highway 40 but only the right front tire was deflated. Brown continued onto Highway 40 westbound then turned north onto 7000 West and spikes were again deployed. The vehicle slid down an embankment near 7500 South 5000 West and Brown was apprehended. He was booked into Duchesne County Jail and charged with Resisting Arrest and Driving on a Suspended License(both Class B Misdemeanors), and Evading, a 3rd Degree Felony.
