Winter conditions have arrived and are affecting travel throughout the region. As one
example, Moffat County Sheriff’s Office shares that on Sunday, November 24th, a
commercial motor vehicle jack-knifed on Highway 40 between mile markers 73 and 74
at about 10:30 am about 15 miles west of Craig. It took until noon before a tow truck
could arrive on scene and until about 1:15pm before Highway 40 was reported as cleared.
The Sheriff’s Office offered a reminder to all travelers to please slow down and use
extreme caution in winter conditions and especially to please remember to SLOW
DOWN any time you pass any stationary emergency vehicle, stationary towing carrier
vehicle, or stationary public utility service vehicle, as well as any other stationary vehicle
displaying hazard lights. No injuries were reported from the accident and no other
vehicles were involved.
