Migratory upland game bird and waterfowl hunts are underway across Utah but the general season pheasant and quail hunts do not open until November 7th. Now is the time to prepare. DWR biologists have noted that there should be similar pheasant hunting conditions as last year and to expect adult-heavy harvest, as there are smaller and fewer broods due to dry conditions. A decline in pheasant populations in Utah is anticipated if dry conditions persist. Another thing to note is that pen-reared pheasants will be released on various wildlife management areas and Walk-in Access properties around the state each week during the general-season hunt. Browns Park WMA, Stewart Lake WMA, Pariette Wetlands BLM, Little Montes Creek WMA, Kevin Conway WMA, and Starvation State Park are each listed on the map as 2026 Pheasant Release Areas. The release areas will vary from week to week. Learn more about hunting upland game in Utah at wildlife.utah.gov/uplandgame.
