‘Westyn’s Vision’ to Soon Bring ADA Accessible Equipment to Naples Park

A local fundraising effort is coming close to their initial goal to fund two pieces of ADA accessible playground equipment at the Naples City Park. Westyn Hacking is an energetic three-year-old who loves to get out and play with his siblings. He is also a twin that was born blind and has Cerebral Palsy and delayed development. As he was getting bigger, his mother Shaylee began to recognize just how much more limited his world is and will be than his siblings and she began to brainstorm what could be done to help all kids come together and play together. The idea for ‘Westyn’s Vision’ was born with the focus on raising funds for ADA accessible playground equipment. The fundraising got a great kickoff when the Uintah High School student body dedicated their 2019 holiday fundraising efforts to ‘Westyn’s Vision’ with great success. Thankfully, there have been more successful fundraisers since, including a cornhole tournament held over the weekend. Little by little the funds have come together and they are close to their initial goal that will pay for two pieces of equipment: a swing and a wheelchair accessible merry-go-round. Donations are greatly appreciated and welcomed. Donations can be made physically at the Vernal Chamber as well as through the Charitable Friends of Ashley Valley which is a 501(c)3. The Hackings are excited for the day when children of all abilities are able to play together once the equipment is installed. To learn more, visit the ‘Westyn’s Vision’ Facebook page. An interview with the Hacking family is available on BasinNow.com on the Public Affairs page under the Community tab.
