The Ashley Valley Education Center held its graduation ceremony for its Class of 2021 on Thursday. Uintah School District offered congratulations to the 170 graduates and shared some interesting stats about these amazing students in a press release: During the 2020-21 school year, AVEC served 2,541 students on campus, online and through its Youth in Custody, Adult Education, and Night School programs. Uintah Online, the district’s online K-8 school, served 1,017 students alone. Ashley Valley High School served 816 students this year, with 116 students graduating. Another 54 students graduated from the Adult Education program. On Friday(today), 104 of the 436 Uintah High students walking at commencement will be AVEC graduates. More than 300 members of Uintah High’s Class of 2021 took one class or more from AVEC during their academic careers, earning the right to wear a purple and white cord with their cap and gown. AVEC Principal Andy McKea praised her school’s graduates for embracing this year’s theme: Warrior Strong. The students demonstrated discipline, honor, courage, integrity, commitment, bravery, focus, resilience and grit to achieve their goals, McKea said. “To be Warrior Strong is a big commitment in one’s life,” she said. “Because you are here today, you have proven to be Warrior Strong.”
