A Vernal woman was arrested after methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located in her vehicle. According to the Probable Cause Statement, on May 8, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle in Ballard after a traffic violation was observed. During the stop, a certified narcotics detection canine conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive indication to the odor of illegal narcotics. The driver, 39-year-old Bailey Birchell, was advised of her Miranda rights and admitted to using methamphetamine. Birchell stated there were drug-related items inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle located a bag containing syringes, plastic straws, aluminum foil with suspected heroin residue, and multiple baggies containing a crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine. Birchell has two prior drug possession convictions within the last 7 years.
