Pair Arrested In Duchesne County After High Speed Chase

Running from police and endangering the public have consequences as the following individuals learned. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, on June 6, before 7pm, a white 2008 Nissan Titan was observed by officers running a red light at 100 West and Main Street in Duchesne. A traffic stop was initiated but the vehicle fled and drove to a very remote area of Duchesne County in the Antelope Canyon. The driver drove over 100 miles per hour, on the wrong side of the road, and crossed Highway 40 without reducing speed during the high speed chase. The truck pulled onto a dead end on an oil pad. The passenger and driver were both ordered to get out of the vehicle and surrender. Neither party did and later got high centered in the dirt at the same location while trying to drive away. The passenger fled on foot after having been told to stop but was later apprehended after an extensive search was conducted. The passenger told officers that she ran because of an active board of pardons warrant that was subsequently located and served. A search of the vehicle was conducted. Items of drug paraphernalia were located including a scale, tooters, pipes, syringes and small baggies normally used to store illegal narcotics. 36-year-old Lanessa June Gardner is charged with Failure to Stop at Command of Law Enforcement, Obstruction of Justice, Drug Paraphernalia, and Possessing Alcohol. The driver, 32-year-old Willy Scott Kenton, was found to have committed a severe safety risk to the public where he not only put himself but also his passenger, several motorists on the road and officers in jeopardy. Kenton and is charged with Failure to Stop at Command of Police, Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, Failure to Disclose Identity, Drinking Alcohol in Vehicle, Driving on Denied License, Driving on Wrong Side of Roadway, and other traffic infractions.
