Locals turned out to support an important cause
Friday night
at the Vernal Rescue Run. The annual 5K raises funds to donate to Operation Underground Railroad, an organization of modern day abolitionists who free children from trafficking around the world. The goal for Vernal Rescue Run was to raise enough money to save at least one child, which is estimated to cost the O.U.R. organization $2,500 dollars. Thanks to the hard work of the committee and the support of the community, the event raised $5,084 dollars, enough to save not one, but two kids. Founder of the annual event, Jill Boyd, has a big heart and has already started planning for next year’s race as she continually hopes to make a difference in fighting the evil of child sex trafficking in the world. Those willing to help with next year’s event are invited to email
