West Raven Fire Burns on BLM Land Near Utah/Colorado Border

A fire is burning south of Highway 40 near the Utah/Colorado border. According to the Uintah Basin Interagency Fire Center, the call came in on the West Raven Fire
at 1:28pm on Wednesday
. It is burning in grass, brush, pinion, and juniper 5 miles south of Highway 40 on the Old Bonanza Highway. It hopped back and forth from one side of the highway to the other. From the air on Wednesday, the West Raven Fire was estimated at 250 acres. The response included agencies from Jensen, Vernal, Naples, Tridell, Avalon, BLM, Forest Service, State of Utah, as well as a helicopter that has been on hand locally from Yellowstone National Park. The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
