Vernal City has issued several reminders concerning fireworks use over the Pioneer Day holiday, starting today. “As our community prepares for July 24th celebrations, Vernal City asks all residents to use extra caution and help protect our neighborhoods, public lands, and first responders,” shares the announcement. “Fireworks are only allowed on private property within Vernal City’s designated fireworks areas. They are not allowed on City-owned property, parks, school property, county property, vacant lots, fields, non-manicured properties, or in unincorporated county areas. Please remember that you are responsible for any fire you start. Firework-related fires may result in a Class B misdemeanor, a $1,000 fine, and restitution for fire mitigation and property damage costs.” Be sure to always have a water source nearby, soak used fireworks before placing them in the trash, use good judgment and keep fireworks away from dry grass, fields, and other fire-prone areas.
