The Ute Tribe announced in a Wednesday press release that on April 21st and 22nd the Ute Indian Tribe hosted leadership from Cougar Den, a fuel distribution company owned and operated by members of the Yakama Nation in central Washington. Cougar Den has established itself as a premier fuel distributor to Indian fuel retailers throughout Indian Country. Recently, Cougar Den and the Ute Indian Tribe have begun a dialogue to explore business partnership opportunities utilizing the Ute Indian Tribe’s vast mineral estate and Cougar Den’s expertise and access to distribution markets among tribal retailers. During its visit, Cougar Den met with the Business Committee and participated in a tour of oil and gas operations, led by the Ute Indian Tribe Energy and Minerals Department. “It was a tremendous honor to host the team from Cougar Den and show them our homeland,” says Ute Tribal Business Committee Chairman Luke Duncan. “There is a real opportunity here to develop a long lasting partnership in distributing fuel to tribal retailers. We look forward to seeing where this can lead not just for our respective Tribes, but to the fuel industry throughout Indian Country.”
