The Ute baseball team kicked of the 4A State championships as the 15th ranked team hosting the 18th ranked Stansbury Stallions over the weekend. In game one on Friday, Stansbury took the early lead, the Ute caught up in the sixth, but the Stallions won it in the seventh 6-5.
Game two on Saturday found the Utes surging ahead with 7 runs in the fourth and fifth innings as they evened the series with a 12-6 victory. Brody Murray and Cooper Goodrich each smoked two doubles in the win.
In the tie-breaker, a second inning rally by the Stallions lead to a 6-4 Ute loss, ending their season.
