Uintah County Travel and Tourism Director Lesha Coltharp gave a report on Monday to the Uintah County Commissioners on the Utah Tourism Conference held in Uintah County in September. According to Coltharp, 350 people, made up primarily of tourism leaders throughout Utah, attended the 4 day conference. Based on estimates of what average conference attendees spend, it’s expected that over $233,000 dollars were fed into the local economy by the conference attendees. “That’s a great number,” shares Coltharp, “but the reach we are going to have by showcasing our community and having those influential people here for an entire week experiencing all the great things here in the Basin will be far more reaching than those totals.” Commissioner Duane Shepherd commented that the conference was held on the heels of the Utah Symphony event making for several weeks where the Uintah Basin was featured on a high level in the state of Utah. Commissioner Bill Stringer thanked Ms. Coltharp and shared that she had received an award from the National Park Service for being the face of tourism in Uintah County and doing such a great job. Stringer emphasized that this was a testament of how much Lesha Coltharp does for travel and tourism in Uintah County.
