Utah Energy United Initiative Seeking Vocal Support of Oil and Gas Industry

Utah Petroleum Association is searching for those who will be vocal in their support of the oil and gas industry as part of the new initiative Utah Energy United. In January, the Biden Administration placed an open-ended moratorium on federal oil and natural gas leasing among other moves. “We want Utah to be a part of the solution when it comes to climate change, or any other big issue, frankly,” shares UPA President Rikki Hrenko-Browning. “But it’s often easy to feel like our voices aren’t heard or valued thousands of miles away in Washington, DC the way they ought to be. That’s what Utah Energy United is all about. People tend to think of this issue in binary terms, which is a mistake. It’s not a question of producing the energy we need safely, reliably and responsibly or seeking to address climate change. We have been doing both, and we can continue to do both.” UPA is seeking supporters of oil and natural gas to join the coalition by visiting their website, filling out a contact information form, and choosing how to participate. All are welcome to join from anywhere in the state of any profession and this includes the Uintah Basin community. “Silence is not an option when it comes to helping shape the public policy that will influence our lives now and in the future,” continues Hrenko-Browning. “We need as many voices as possible contributing to the discussion and demonstrating to the Biden Administration that their calls for unity were not unheard. We just hope our collective response is not ignored.” Visit utahpetroleum.org to sign up.
