Roosevelt Native Athlete Spotlighted for Hard Work and Impressive Hops

A Utah State University student and athlete from the Uintah Basin is getting some attention this week. A year ago and just days before the pandemic shut down in person school and athletics, USU senior high jumper and Roosevelt native Audrey Garrett completed a jump of 1.75 meters(right about 5’9”) at the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championship. Her jump would rank as the 5th highest jump in all-time USU school history. While that could have been the final jump of her collegiate career, Audrey ultimately made the decision to take on a Master’s program and utilize her final year of eligibility as a student-athlete. Her work ethic and leadership are emphasized in an article on USUStatesmen.com, the college’s news publication, in which Audrey’s jump coach calls her an “invaluable addition” to the team who has lifted their program to “new heights.” Audrey Garrett is finishing her academic and final collegiate athletic year strong as she graduates this spring with her MBA and is competing great, most recently with a first place win at the Stanford University meet.
