Unemployment Report for Uintah Basin

The Department of Workforce Services has provided an update on unemployment in the state of Utah and the data shows a small shift down in the Uintah Basin. Daggett County stayed the same at 3.5 percent unemployment. Duchesne County ticked down to 4.6 percent from 4.9 percent and Uintah County also made a small shift down to 5.4 percent from 5.7 percent. The state of Utah ticked down to 2.7 percent from 2.8 percent and nationally unemployment moved to 5.8 percent from 6.1 percent. “Utah’s economy continues to add jobs as it responds to both population growth and post pandemic business revitalization,” reported Mark Knold, Chief Economist at the Department of Workforce Services. The state’s 2.7 percent unemployment rate means approximately 44,350 Utahns were unemployed in May.
