The Uintah Utes hockey team are heading to nationals after winning the state Division-1 championship. Emotions ran high the moment the Utes secured the title and the team flooded the ice, gathering around goalie Devin Bain. Devin is a team captain, UHS Hockey All Star and senior graduating this year. Everyone was in tears, including the coaches. “This was the first time I’ve been on the bench with a team that’s taken state,” shares Coach Mike Williams. “We got emotional…It was great and so much fun to watch those kids pour off the bench and attack the goalie Devin Bain, who was unbelievably good.” The team has 12 seniors and a strong group of female players. “Girls hockey is definitely growing here in Utah,” shares Kylie Larson. The team is preparing to head to nationals in Cleveland, Ohio the end of March. The team is fundraising so that every team member will be able to go. Donations can be made at Zion’s Bank under the account, Utah High School Hockey. For more information, call 435-828-8112.
