The fires throughout the region didn’t keep citizens from celebrating with fireworks in areas throughout the Basin. According to the Uintah Fire District, fire crews in Uintah County responded to 5 calls related to fireworks during Wednesday’s celebrations. Vernal City Fire had 3 calls, Naples City Fire had 1 call, and Lapoint-Tridell Fire Department had 1 call. Each incident caused small fires that were quickly extinguished and the main cause was lighting fireworks adjacent to dry grass. Citations were issued for those using fireworks in restricted areas. , the Maine Fire was 95% contained with a total of 67 acres burned on private and state lands. There has not been any new growth in over 2 days. Fire crews are working on interior hot spots. The community is still asked to stay clear of 3500 North as crews continue to strive for full containment.
