The Uintah County Commission reviewed plans to remove lights from the street configuration on Aggie Blvd and Main Street during Monday’s Commission meeting. In November, Uintah County approved a plan to remove 80 lights from their property and have been working with Rocky Mountain Power to finalize plans in the months since. The entire system includes 196 street lights that break down to 126 on County property and 70 on City property. The system cost $785,378 dollars to install. During Monday’s meeting, it was discussed that the request had been submitted to Rocky Mountain Power to remove the County requested lights and that the contract cost Uintah County will pay is $51,356 dollars. Commissioner Duane Shepherd pointed out that the lights have been turned off but Rocky Mountain Power still charges the monthly maintenance cost and will continue to do so until the poles are removed. The group decided to table the topic for another week until the agreement is finalized and ready to sign.
