With contracts secured to house additional inmates in the Uintah County Jail, the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office has announced their intent to hire additional staff. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the budget has been submitted to the Uintah County Commissioners in which Sheriff Norton asked to hire 3 new deputies “to help with taking care of all the new inmates [the jail] has been getting from the prison and Salt Lake County Jail.” The new deputies will be sent to the corrections academy if not yet certified, making this a great time to apply for those interested in starting a career in law enforcement. Sheriff Norton says that after the deputies are hired and trained, the gross revenue from the jail contracts will increase an additional million dollars plus.
