Three people have died following a tragic accident near Rifle early
Friday morning
. A family of 7 was traveling on I-70
at around 3:30am Friday morning
when their SUV hit a bear. The vehicle was sent from the roadway, rolling multiple times and ejecting several passengers. Two children were fatally injured, 7-year-old Kimberly Hernandez and 15-year-old Brizeyda Hernandez who was pronounced dead at the hospital in Rifle. 63-year-old Eugenio Hernandez Altamirano was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other family members were transported to the hospital with serious to critical injuries.
