The Uintah County Republican Party has announced that the Uintah County Republican Party Central Committee convened on May 26, 2026, in response to the announced resignation of Uintah County Attorney Jaymon J. Thomas, effective June 5. In accordance with Utah Code 20A‑1‑509.1, the Committee unanimously voted to submit three qualified individuals to the Uintah County Commission for consideration. The nominees are Nathan Rawlings, William Reynolds, and Mike Harrington. Rawlings is the Committee’s top recommendation as he was overwhelmingly elected by county delegates at the 2026 Nominating Convention to assume the office beginning in 2027 and is unopposed in both the primary and general elections. William Reynolds is a respected Uintah County attorney with the experience to assist the office during the transition period. Mike Harrington is the Vernal City Prosecutor and is also capable of providing interim support. “The Committee acted promptly and unanimously,” shares Uintah County GOP Chairman Kason Goodrich. “We are confident that each nominee is qualified to serve, and we appreciate the Commission’s commitment to a lawful and transparent process.” The Uintah County Commission has 45 days to make a decision.
