The Uintah County Library will soon have new computers for public use thanks to a state grant. According to Library Director Sam Passey, the $10,000 dollar grant was awarded by the State of Utah Library Division. It is considered a Community Library Enhancement Fund or CLEF grant. CLEF grants can be used in one of three ways: collection development, updated technology that directly affects the public, or for community outreach. The Uintah County Library plans to use the $10,000 dollar grant to purchase new public computers in the library. “By way of information,” shares Passey, “we currently have 46 public computers and last year they were used 40,629 times. That’s pretty substantial usage. [They’ve] been used nonstop since the library opened four and a half years ago.” The library plans to replace between 20 and 22 computers.
