The 15th ranked Uintah Boys baseball team kicked off the first round of the 4A State tournament hosting the 18th ranked Mountain View Bruins in a best of three series. In game 1 on Friday, Dace O’Bagy, Zane Murray and Brayden Murray each doubled as the Utes scored early, then padded their lead down the stretch for the mercy-ruled 13-3 victory.
Saturday pitchers Brayden Murray and Cooper Kay combined for a one-hit shutout and Cooper Goodrich smashed a home run as the Utes once again mercy ruled the Bruins 15-0 to sweep the series.
They head to St. George Friday and Saturday for a best of three series with the 2nd ranked Snow Canyon Warriors.
