A UBTech graduate is headed to the WorldSkills competition in France this fall to represent the United States in the category of Welding. Wyatt Hansen has the top spot in the 2024 USA Welding Trials setting him up to represent at this year’s world competition. Hansen was introduced to welding as a kid by his father. He immersed himself in welding classes as a student at Altamont High School and started competing in SkillsUSA. His senior year he worked extra hard in his studies at Altamont High and UBTech but didn’t quite achieve his goal to represent UBTech at the State SkillsUSA competition. Hansen continued his studies at UBTech after high school and all his hard work began paying off. He finished in the top 12 welders in the nation in 2022 and then won Gold at State Skills USA and National SkillsUSA competitions in 2023. All those years and countless hours further paid off last August when Wyatt earned the honor of representing the USA as he came out on top during the U.S. AWS Welding Trials. Congratulations to Wyatt Hansen and good luck in France this fall!
