Naples Elementary 3rd graders enjoyed a special opportunity learning from one of their classmates last week. Wilber Cervantes was joined by his father, Brian Cervantes, and sister, Lamona Blackhorse, on Friday to give a presentation on their Native American culture and traditions. Naples Elementary shared that the 3rd graders have been studying the history, traditions, and culture of Native Americans in language arts and Wilber and his family not only presented but also performed for the students. Wilber’s sister Lamona is Miss Native American Uintah High School. She and Wilbur each performed 2 dances for the students. They taught about the different styles of dance traditionally performed by men and women and answered questions from the students. It was a memorable experience for all!
