TriCounty Health Department has shared its 2022 annual report. Nearly half of the Health Department’s revenue comes from federal sources, 19 percent is from fees, 17 percent is County tax contributions, 11 percent is from state grants, and the remaining funds are from other sources. TriCounty Health’s expenses are nearly 45 percent salaries and wages, 25 percent employee benefits, 18 percent current expenses, 6 percent capital expenditures, 3 percent pass through funds, and 2 percent travel. TriCounty Health anticipates $150,000 to $200,000 dollars from the State of Utah vaping and tobacco tax to go towards prevention of addictive substances. When presenting, TriCounty Health Director Kirk Benge was asked about COVID in the community. He explained that the health department tracks hospitalizations and it has been quiet as far as COVID. There was a week earlier this winter when there were 4 hospitalizations with flu-like symptoms and 8 with COVID but it has been nowhere near the scenario faced in 2020.
