Team Uintah continues to spread the love and their thanks for those that go the extra mile to support local education. This week, the spotlight is on Utah State University-Uintah Basin as an organization that provides “secondary students with the opportunity to gain credits toward a college degree while they are still in high school. The university has partnered with the district for many years to offer college degree programs for the professional development of teachers as well.” The college is also a key player in the Uintah School District’s Gifted and Talented Program that offers opportunities to elementary students to expand their horizons. Last week, Team Uintah recognized outgoing Vernal Mayor Sonja Norton for being “a wonderful supporter of the Uintah School District and our public schools.” Mayor Norton has been a guest speaker at many school events and taught for a day with the gifted and talented students program. “Through her leadership we have been able to collaborate with Vernal City on several initiatives,” shares Team Uintah. “We are grateful for her support and leadership.”
