Sweetwater County Woman Enters Plea In Husband’s Death

A Green River, Wyoming woman charged with 2nd Degree Murder for the 2025 death of her husband has entered a plea of Not Guilty by Reason of Mental Illness. SweetwaterNow reports that 66-year-old Linda Malone had called authorities on September 9th, 2025, to report that a man had been hit in the face. When asked, she told officers that she had hit him with a large, filled bottle of Baileys. When asked if she was trying to kill him, Malone said she was feeling overwhelmed and wanted to quiet him but not kill him. Her husband needed assistance at all times and was unable to move on his own. Her husband was flown to University of Utah Hospital where he eventually died. A trial date in March 2027 has been set though Malone will undergo evaluations to determine if she has a mental illness as claimed in the plea. Malone is being held at the Sweetwater County Detention Center on half a million dollars cash or surety bond.
