Let’s hope for some clear skies. 2019 International Dark Sky week is
starting on Sunday March 31st.
The event was created in 2003 by high-school student Jennifer Barlow. “I want people to be able to see the wonder of the night sky without the effects of light pollution,” states Barlow. “The universe is our view into our past and our vision into the future. … I want to help preserve its wonder.” To promote the event, visitors from Australia are coming to Vernal, Utah and there will be a Night Sky program held at Steinaker State Park, which received its official dark sky status just last year. To help explore the stars, representatives from the University of Utah with local volunteers will be on hand with telescopes and demonstrations. To take part, come to Steinaker State Park
on Saturday, March 30th.
The viewing will run
from 9pm to 10pm
and it will cost $4 dollars per vehicle to enter the park.
