Steinaker Reservoir Reopens to the Public

Steinaker State Park shared some great news on Wednesday that has many locals excited. As of today, June 27th, the reservoir has reopened to the public. “The water level has risen to the point we can allow boats back on the water at Steinaker!” shares Steinaker officials. “Be advised there is a lot of debris floating on the surface, boat at your own risk.” One thing to note is that while the boat ramp is open as of today, it will be closing again toward the end of July. Ramp construction will be taking place that will add concrete to the ramp and dock walkway. The reservoir was drained last year for construction to take place on the dam and it was originally expected that Steinaker would not be filled in 2019. General Manager of the Uintah Water Conservancy District William Merkley confirmed last week, however, that thanks to quick progress on the construction project, the reservoir was able to start being refilled several weeks ago.
