A press release from the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office issued on Wednesday, announces the discovery of human skeletal remains. “On Sunday, September 27, 2026, law enforcement and assisting agencies found skeletal human remains during an organized search in a remote area of Little Mountain, approximately 15 miles northwest of Vernal. Search crews were in the area doing follow up on a missing person case. On October 7, 2026, another search was conducted in the same area where additional skeletal remains were found. The remains found on October 7th are believed to be linked to those found on September 27th. Other items believed to be linked to the remains were also found. The remains will be sent to the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner for examination.” The investigation remains active and ongoing and more information will be released when available.
