The experts responded over the weekend when a serious injury occurred in Ashley Gorge. “On Saturday, September 19, Uintah County Search and Rescue was dispatched to [the] Via Ferrata, northwest of Vernal at the Ashley Gorge, on a female with a broken ankle,” shares the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office. “Search and rescue members hiked into the area where the injured female was located and was able to stabilize her for airlift. A Department of Public Safety helicopter responded to the area and was able to airlift the victim from Via Ferrata where she was able to get further treatment.” The Sheriff’s Office shared their appreciation for the members of Search and Rescue “who donate their time and talents to assist people, not only in our county, but all over the state.” Thanks was also offered to the Department of Public Safety, Utah Division of Natural Resources, and Gold Cross for their assistance.
