Republican Central Committee Bylaws Reflect Commitment To Convention System

The Uintah County Republican Central Committee approved a change to their bylaws this month that reflects their commitment to the Caucus and Convention system. The Committee unanimously approved the motion that states, “The Uintah County GOP bylaws be amended to include the following statement: During the Primary, the Uintah County GOP shall only recognize a candidate who has won support at Convention. The winner of the Primary, regardless of Convention status, will receive full support during the General Election.” Committee Chairman Brian Gorum explains that this is the Committee’s way of living within the law while making it clear they do not support the signature route to the ballot. “We are going to remain committed to the Convention system and those people that do the work and get out and talk to delegates and work through their neighbors and fellow Republicans, we are going to support them,” shares Gorum. “So it is not a huge change but we are just very committed to the Convention system.” The window to file for candidacy is March 7th to March 11th at 5:00pm.
