Reminder from Dinosaur National Monument

Visitors took advantage of free park entrance over the weekend as Dinosaur National Monument celebrated the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. In the midst of the fun, the Monument issued a timely warning stating that Dinosaur’s Fire Crew has responded to multiple incidents of fires left unattended this year.  “In some cases, crews arrived just in time as the fires had escaped their fire rings and were on their way to causing a wildfire. Not only could they have caused severe damage, but they also put other campers at risk.” While the Monument understands the special tradition of gathering around the campfire, the message is clear: make sure every fire is completely out before leaving the campsite. This means that it’s cool enough to touch. For more camping safety tips, visit
