Work is ongoing on SR-45 where UDOT is building a bridge to solve the issue of the eroding roadway. According to the UDOT Region 3 Team, several options were considered to address the erosion including realigning SR-45 and constructing a bypass. “UDOT ultimately determined that a bridge would be the most efficient and cost-effective solution.” Funding the project has been a joint effort between UDOT and American Gilsonite Company. The Utah Transportation Commission approved $1.8 million dollars to fund the bridge and the roadway is expected to reopen by the end of the year.
