Public Meeting Upcoming for Ashley Karst National Recreation Geologic Area

Public input is invited as Ashley National Forest develops a management plan for the Ashley Karst National Recreation and Geologic Area (NRGA) in Uintah County. Back in March Ashley National Forest explained that while the exact boundaries were still being worked out, the NRGA will be located generally up Taylor Mountain Road to the summit of the mountains and then over to and down Whiterocks River. A virtual public meeting is being held on December 8th at 6:00 pm through a live stream on the Ashley National Forest Facebook Page. “The meeting will include an overview of the legislation creating the NRGA and a description of the lands that have been designated. The meeting will also provide information about the resources within the NRGA and seek public comment for the development of a management plan…The Ashley Karst NRGA received its special designation by Congress in March of 2019, as part of the John D. Dingell Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act.” Learn more at fs.usda.gov/ashley.
